Itinerary

Day 1Kilimanjaro Airport - Transfer To Arusha

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be met by our representative. Who will assist you with your luggage and drive to your hotel in Arusha, brief you on your itinerary, and help you with your check-in at your hotel.

Overnight at accommodation in Arusha.
Meal Plan: Breakfast.

Day 2Momela Gate - Miriakamba Huts : 13.8Km/ 8.6 M

Elevation: 1597m/5240ft to 2503m/8212ft
Altitude gained: 906m

After breakfast depart Moshi about 8:30 a.m drive to Momella gate. Make payment and start the climb with a picnic lunch to the first hut called Miriakamba hut. Dinner and overnight – Miriakamba hut (3 ½ hrs).

Day 3Miriakamba Huts – Saddle Huts: 6.1Km/ 3.8Mi | 2.5 Hrs

Elevation: 2503m/8212ft to 3560m/11,680ft

Altitude gained: 1057m

After breakfast, we proceed with a climb to the second hut called Saddle. This is too steep part compared to the first part (2 ½). During the afternoon, the client can decide to attempt climbing the little Meru peak and back. Dinner and overnight – Saddle hut.

Day 4Saddle Hut - Summit : 5.5Km/ 3.4Mi :Descend To Saddle Hut

Elevation: 3560m/11,680ft to 4566m/14980ft

Wake up in the middle-night and have a cup of tea before starting to attempt a big Meru peak. Proceed to summit crossing rocky path and back to Saddle hut for full breakfast. The day will be spent resting. Lunch, dinner, and overnight at Saddle hut.

Day 5Saddle Hut – Momella Gate : 6.5Km/4Mi

Elevation:3560m/11,680ft to 1597m/5240ft

Altitude lost:1963m

Leave Saddle hut and descend down to Momella gate via first hut (Miriakamba) where you will be transferred back to Arusha.

Day 6Drive to Kilimanjaro National Park Umbwe Gate, Hike to Umbwe Cave Camp (LD)

Drive from Moshi to the Umbwe Gate (about 30 minutes). Commence the climb through the rain forest with packed lunch on route.

Day 7Umbwe Cave Camp to Barranco Camp (BLD)

Drive from Arusha to the Umbwe Gate (about 1 hour). Commence the climb through the rain forest with packed lunch on route.

Day 8Hike Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (BLD)

After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge up the Barranco Wall to the Karanga Valley and the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail.

Day 9Hike Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (BLD)

We continue up to the Barafu Camp. You have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day.

Day 10Hike Barafu Camp to Summit, down to Mweka Camp (BLD)

Very early in the morning (midnight to 2 am), we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. At Stella Point, you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see. Faster hikers may view the sunrise from the summit. From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. Once at Uhuru Peak you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa! From the summit we begin our descent by continuing straight down to the Mweka Camp, stopping at Barafu for lunch. You may want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. We arrive at Mweka Camp and enjoy our last evening on the mountain.

Day 11Hike Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, drive to Moshi or Arusha (B)

After breakfast, we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy). From the gate, continue another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi (about 30 minutes). Don’t forget to tip your guides and porters.

Day 12Transfer to Airport

This will be your last day for Kilimanjaro climbing, we will transfer you to the airport at the time depends on your flight schedule or safari plan.
